Design your kitchen, then see it renovated

Sketch your own room, drag in the units, sink, island and appliances, and get honest guidance on the work triangle, walkways and plumbing. Then upload a photo and see your renovated kitchen as an AI impression. No account, no email.

Is this kitchen planner free, and what does it check?

Yes. Drawing, checking and pricing your layout costs nothing, and you need no account and no email. You draw the room to scale in centimetres or in feet and inches, mark the door, window, drain and water supply, and drag in the units, sink, hob, fridge, dishwasher, island and table.

While you drag, it adds up the work triangle between fridge, sink and hob and tells you when the three sides pass about 8 m (26 ft). It checks the walkway in front of the units against a comfort guideline of 105 cm (about 41 in) and warns when something stands in the door swing. It also prices the work your layout causes, in pounds or dollars: a sink or dishwasher moved away from the existing drain, or a freestanding island that needs water, drainage and power through the floor.

Your plan downloads as a PDF, or as a working drawing with every measurement on it. If you want to see the finished room, upload a photo: the AI image follows your layout where the photo allows. The first 4 images each month are free. More images go onto a free account and cost money: 10 for £4.95, or 25 in the Renovation Pack for £19.95.

It draws flat, not in 3D. I kept it that way because a flat plan is the one you can measure from. The triangle and the walkway are comfort guidelines, not rules, and the prices cover only the work your layout causes, not units, worktops or appliances.

2. What is fixed

Drag the drain and water markers to where they really are: all plumbing costs are measured from those two points. Not sure where they are? The drain is usually at the current toilet or shower, water at the basin; tap a marker for an explanation. Place the door, window and load-bearing wall on a wall here.

4. What your layout means

Add items and drag them into place; guidance appears here as you go.

Clearances above are comfort guidelines, not legal rules. Cost ranges are UK national planning ranges (sources checked September 2026); London and the South East run higher. None of the guides behind them says VAT is included, so ask each trade whether it comes on top. Always get local quotes.

How the kitchen planner works

A to-scale drawing tool that checks your layout against clearance guidance and prices plumbing moves live while you drag fixtures around.

  1. Choose your room shape (rectangle, L-shape, sloped wall or free form) and set the sizes.
  2. Place the door, window and the existing drain and water connections where they really are.
  3. Drag and rotate your fixtures; add your own objects with their real sizes.
  4. Read the verdict underneath: clearance warnings and the plumbing cost of every move.

Frequently asked questions

What is the kitchen work triangle?

The imaginary triangle between fridge, sink and cooktop. As a guideline a kitchen works comfortably when the three sides add up to no more than about 8 m (26 ft); beyond that you walk more than you cook. The planner measures it live.

What does a freestanding kitchen island need?

Water, drainage and power through the floor, which means opening and restoring the floor; on concrete that is serious work. Keep about 105 cm (42 in) of walkway around it. The planner flags a freestanding island automatically.

How much walkway does a kitchen need?

As a comfort guideline 100 to 120 cm (40 to 47 in) between a counter and the wall or island opposite, enough to open drawers and the dishwasher while someone passes. The planner uses 105 cm in front of the units, sink, hob, dishwasher and island (90 cm in front of the fridge and tall cabinets) and marks tighter spots without forbidding them.

Is my layout stored anywhere?

Only in your own browser, on your own device. A shared link contains the layout itself, encoded in the link; nothing is stored on my servers.

Does the kitchen planner show my kitchen in 3D?

No, it draws a flat plan to scale, because that is the plan you can measure walkways and the work triangle from. To see the finished kitchen, upload a photo of your own: the AI image keeps the windows and doors where they are and follows your layout where the photo allows.

Does the kitchen planner price the units and worktops?

No, it prices only the work your layout causes: moving the sink or dishwasher away from the existing drain and water supply, and running water, drainage and power to a freestanding island. Units, worktops and appliances carry their own price tag in the showroom, and a range for the whole kitchen comes from the cost calculator.
