Construction cost by country: what your house costs anywhere in the world
Construction cost by country is a globe you can turn: you put the same house on any place on earth and see what building it costs there. The country figure comes from Eurostat (residential construction), the city figure from the Turner & Townsend location index, and the land price from the open register of that country. Every amount carries its source and its date, and where there is no source there is no number.
Drag the globe, click a country or a city, and zoom into the map of the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands or the United States. Bring your own design from the drawing board.

Questions about the map
- Where in the world is building cheapest?
- That depends on two things that the globe keeps apart: what building costs and what land costs. Building costs are flat across a region and differ mostly between countries; land prices differ street by street. On the globe you see both, and the colour of the map is the land price, because that is where the difference is.
- Where do these figures come from?
- The house itself is priced by our own engine, line by line, from what you drew. The country factor is the Eurostat price level for residential construction (2024, the Netherlands = 100); the city factor is the Turner & Townsend location index (2025, mixed real estate); the land price comes from the open land register of each country. Each figure names its source on the page.
- Can I use my own design?
- Yes. Draw a house on the drawing board and it stands on the globe straight away: same browser, same design, nothing to upload. You can also pick one of the example houses and change it.
