Frequently asked questions

How much clearance does a toilet need?

As a comfort guideline about 75 cm (30 in) in front of the bowl; many US codes require at least 21 inches in front and 15 inches from the centerline to a wall. The planner marks tight spots and always tells you it is a guideline; check your local code for the legal minimum.

How much does it cost to move a toilet?

Moving a toilet about 2 metres (6.5 ft) typically runs £930 to £2,040 in the UK (including VAT) or $1,080 to $2,250 as a US planning range; the drain is the expensive part, and moving the water supply too adds $400 to $1,040. The planner calculates it live for your own distance and currency; always get local quotes.

How far can a toilet be from the drain stack?

As a rule of thumb up to about 3 m (10 ft) with normal fall. European practice plans with roughly 1 cm per metre; US codes require about 1/4 inch per foot, which is twice as steep. Beyond that you need to open the floor for extra height, or use a macerator pump. The planner warns automatically when your layout crosses that line.

Can I put a bathtub on a wooden upper floor?

Often yes, but a filled tub easily weighs 300 to 400 kg (660 to 880 lb). Have the load capacity checked on a wooden floor, and check your hot water capacity. The planner adds this reminder automatically when you place a tub.

Is my layout stored anywhere?

Only in your own browser, on your own device. A shared link contains the layout itself, encoded in the link; nothing is stored on our servers, and no account or email is needed.

How accurate is the AI impression?

It is a mood impression, not an architectural rendering: it follows your layout hints where the photo allows, keeps windows and doors in place, and shows finish and atmosphere. Use it to compare styles and directions, not to measure from.
